It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Mrs. Zuhal Ardan on March 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Zuhal was born on March 15, 1932 in Istanbul, Turkey, where she grew up before immigrating to the United States in 1971. Zuhal completed vocational training to become a highly skilled, accomplished seamstress and used her craft clothing for her family, and also very stylish clothing for herself. She was known to be able to look at any piece of clothing in a store to then recreate the same pattern at home. Zuhal was fortunate to work within the Sears Retail Company for close to ten years altering men's suits.
Zuhal was also a very proud homemaker and enjoyed reading Vogue magazine throughout her life. It goes without saying, she wanted the best for her family and worked hard to be successful. It was not uncommon in the 60s to see her well-dressed, including her white gloves, matching shoes, jewelry, and purses. She was also very well known for her abundant, beautiful gardens, and the excellent care of roses. In her free time, Zuhal also enjoyed entertaining guests, traveling with her family, and attended United Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor.
Zuhal is preceded in death by her husband, Ozcan Ardan; and parents, Abdulhalim and Fatma.
Those who survive her include: her sons, Firuz (Rita) Ardan and Tanju (Kathleen) Ardan; grandchildren, Jonathan (Beth), Michelle (Vadim), Andrew, Christopher, and Katrina; and great-grandchildren, Caden, Destan, Lily, and Zerrin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan from 4:00 - 5:00 pm, followed by a prayer service starting at 5:00 pm. Zuhal will be laid to rest at Washtenong Memorial Park on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 11:00 am.
Please consider leaving a contribution in memory of Zuhal to the The Huron Valley Humane Society.
