Thomas J. Komes

Thomas J. "Tom" Komes, age 75, a resident of Bolingbrook, IL, formerly of Naperville, IL, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in Bolingbrook, IL. He was born on October 18, 1947, in Aurora, IL.

Beloved husband of Linda Komes (nee Witt), whom he married August 28, 1982, loving father of Lindsey J. Komes of Sycamore, IL, devoted son of the late John and Edna (nee Shiave) Komes, dear brother of John J. (Terry) Komes of Nampa, ID, Linda Kvedores of Papillion, NE, Christine (Frank) Fennell of Dumont, NJ, Annette Komes of Mt. Arlington, NJ and the late William Komes, son-in-law of Marilyn S. Witt of Downers Grove, IL and the late Wesley W. Witt, brother-in-law of William W. (Georgette) Witt, Barbara J. (Jack) Christensen, James K. (Jean) Witt and Timothy J. (Lorie) Witt, fond uncle, great-uncle, and friend of many.

Tom grew up in Aurora, IL, was a graduate of Marmion Military Academy (Class of 1965) and attended Purdue University in Lafayette, IN for one semester. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and stayed there for another eight years following his honorable discharge. Tom came back to Chicago in 1976, met his wife, Linda, and married in 1982.

Tom was employed in the restaurant industry at the beginning of his career and later worked for many years at Bill Kay Chrysler in Naperville, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed golfing and will be remembered for his 'gift of gab."

A private celebration of Tom's life will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville with Rev. Brian Wise officiating.
