Cecil Hoffman Obituary

Cecil Nelson Hoffman

HEATH: A funeral service celebrating the life of Cecil N. Hoffman, age 88, of Heath, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Cecil was born June 14, 1928 in Fremont, Ohio to the late Claude B. and Mary L. (Unterzuber) Hoffman. He passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Newark Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Cecil married Pauline Catherine Miller in Covington, Kentucky. They were born and raised in the same community and went to the same church. After their marriage, Cecil started his own radio and TV sales and service business. In 1963, he was employed at the Newark Aerospace Guidance and Metrology Center and a year later they moved the family to Newark. In 1974, they moved to Hopewell where they owned and operated a small mobile home park and a 20-acre farm. Cecil was an electronic test equipment repairman for the Newark Air Force Base and retired in 1990. He had been a private pilot, scuba diver, water well driller and designed and serviced personal computers. In his spare time, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to flea markets and auctions.

He is survived by four daughters, Carol Brown of Hebron, Ruth Whyde of Mount Vernon, Diane (Tom) Coelho of McArthur and Rita (Al Scurlock) Harper of Thornville; two sons, William "Bill" (Carol) Hoffman of Newark and David (Laurie) Hoffman of Tiffin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Pauline, in 2005; and two sons, Kenneth Lee and Dale Eugene Hoffman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.

Uncle Cecil was always a fun loving jovial prescence at family get togethers. I can remember his bringing fireworks and sparklers and overseeing their safe use. He was a loving, supportive father to his children and the love of Aunt Pauline's life. Please understand my thoughts and prayers are with all of the cousins and their families even though I can't be there physically.

My heart goes out to your family. The loss of a love one is a heartbreak that others may not fully understand. Yet, God recognizes the pain you are experiencing and keeps track of your tears as if collecting them in a bottle. (Psalms 56:8) Rely on Him for strength during this difficult time. My condolence
