Scott Onorato Obituary

Scott K. Onorato
Scott K. Onorato, 62, died February 28, 2018. Scott was born on November 3, 1955 in New Milford, CT. He was the youngest son of the late Joseph and Phyllis Onorato.
In 1974, Scott graduated from New Milford High School. He married Susan (Hoffman) in 1977 and worked at Kimberly Clark, New Milford, for 14 years.
In 1989, he and Sue moved the family to Cape Coral, FL where he ran his own landscaping business.
In 1997, Scott and Sue moved to Ocala and they became the owner/operators of Baseline Bar & Grill. This was a lifelong dream of Scott's, reflecting on a similar establishment from his hometown in CT, Bud Hulton's Long Branch Bar & Grill.
Scott played softball in CT with his friends for The Corner Store. He was an avid fisherman, motorcyclist and a huge fan of the Yankees and the Saints.
Scott cherished all of his friends, North and South, and he loved spending time with his family. A generous man with a kind heart, Scott would help out anyone in need and he sponsored many fundraisers for organizations and individuals.
In addition to his wife Susan of 40 years, Scott adored his two children, son, Corey Onorato and wife, Ashley and his daughter, Corin Caracciolo and husband, Bryan, all of Ocala. He was also a loving grandfather to Alex, Claire and Bennett. Scott is also survived by brothers, Barry Onorato (wife, Michelle) and Jeffrey Onorato (wife, Sandy), all of New Milford; also sister-in-law Sherry (Hoffman) Huston (husband, Jim); brother-in-law Rick Hoffman (wife, Robin, deceased); four nieces, Melissa, Ericka, Crystal and Nicole; eight nephews, Joseph, Sean, John, Jamie, Micah, Dan, Matt and Ryan and numerous cousins. Additionally, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Esther Hoffman (Dick, deceased) and an aunt, Mary (Onorato) Wojiechowski of New Milford.
A Celebration of Life is planned for all who would like to attend at 2 p.m. March 10, 2018 at the Ocala Ballroom, 108 North Magnolia Ave., Ocala. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the March of Dimes, 3227 E Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala 34470. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services Ocala, FL, 352-629-7171. My thoughts and prayers to Scott's family. Scott was an integral part of my childhood, of growing up as part of the Orchard Heights kids. He taught me many things during those years: how to catch a snapping turtle, how to toss a newspaper so it lands right where the homeowner wants it, how to ice down a sledding path so it would make an awesome tobogganing run - a whole lot of those "boy" things. But what I remember most about Scott was him patiently teaching me how to knit - yes, knit! A lesson that I'm betting even he had forgotten. Not that he ever will be, he is just as much a part of me as the old homestead is.
