MARSHALL - Gordon L. Anderson, 80, of Marshall passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
He was born May 27, 1942, in Danville, the son of Leland and Margaret Dickson Anderson.
Surviving are two daughters, Candy Anderson (Greg King) and Carrie Lutz (Eric), both of Marshall; two siblings, Hall Anderson (Jean) of Branson, Mo., and Peggy Jones of Gibson City; and Carrie and Candy's mother, Lynn Anderson of Fithian.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Byron Jones.
Gordon attended Eastern Illinois University. He then transitioned back to sporting goods, sales and watching the twins play volleyball!
He was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church while in Danville. He also served on the Oakwood Unit 76 school board, Danville Rotary Club and Vermilion County Fair Board and was involved with the National Sporting Goods Association.
Upon his move to Marshall, he engaged with the community through his memberships at Armstrong United Methodist Church and the Marshall Lions Club. He also enjoyed driving patients from Burnsides Nursing Home to appointments and greeting guests at the Villas of Hollybrook.
He was a man of faith and family, and loved all things sports. His stories of growing up always involved the family businesses of Dickson Funeral Home and Alexanders Sporting Goodsm where he learned how to serve the community and how to sell things people loved!
He had a big heart for all he met and never met a stranger. He taught his girls how to love, how to dream, how to work and how to serve in faith. He lived out God's Love and demonstrated how to shine God's Light each day.

I just wanted to say what a wonderful person Gordon was to work with at Rantoul Products back in the 90s. He was very quiet, however, he was also very helpful and compassionate. May he rest in peace!
