MONTICELLO - Maxwell Raymond Hayes, 16, of Wentzville, Mo., formerly of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on July 26, 2025, in Columbia, Mo.
He is survived by his mother, Kristina Marie Hayes; brother, Eli Hayes; and sister, Evie Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Alan Hayes.
Max was born on March 22, 2009, in Houston. He was entering his junior year at Timberland High School in Wentzville. He was an honor roll student and elected captain of the varsity swim team. He was a proud member of Scout Troop #949 and was working towards his Eagle Scout. He worked as a lifeguard for Wentzville Parks and Recreation.
Max was always happiest being outdoors and enjoyed many camping trips with his dad and brother. He was an amazing big brother and had a calm and easy-going nature that made him a joy to be around. Max, being the oldest grandchild, always had a way of encouraging and being kind to all his nephews and nieces.
In his passing, Max gave the gift of life to others as an organ donor, a final act of kindness and generosity he showed throughout life.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Monarch Event Center 212 S. Independence St., Monticello.
