Mr. Molpus graduated from Mainland High School, Daytona Beach, FL and then earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. After college he served three years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. During his tenure at FP&L, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree in 1976 from the New York Institute of Technology. After retiring from FP&L, he served as a quality improvement instructor for Qualtec Quality Services teaching quality improvement techniques to the Federal Aviation Administration. After retirement from Qualtec, he served many years as a dedicated volunteer at Halifax Hospital (now part of Halifax Health), the site of his birth as well as that of his three sons. He was a deacon of First Baptist church of Daytona Beach, FL, and served on the Pulpit Committee that recruited beloved Pastor Bobby Welch. He had a lifelong interest in biblical eschatology and taught many church courses regarding the book of Revelation and the End Times. He is survived by three sons, John Lane Molpus, MD (wife, Tonya) of Greensboro, NC; Kelly Lorin Molpus, MD (wife, Angela) of Ponce Inlet, FL; and Brantley Kent Molpus, MD of Orlando, FL; two grandsons, Garrett and Jacob Brody Molpus of Ponce Inlet, FL; and younger brother, Frederick Durett Molpus (wife, Helen) of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Lynell Molpus and sisters, Kennie May Molpus and Mary Ivie Molpus Farmer. Mr. Molpus was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and a friend to all who knew him. He was a man of great faith and moral character who led by example because he lived his life by the precepts he taught. The family would like to thank the Medical and Nursing Staff of unit 500 at Halifax Hospital for their professionalism, expertise & care given. To the Molpus Family: J.K. was one of the finest men we ever knew. We learned more from his study courses than from most sermons we ever heard and that was because we knew he lived what he taught. Your family is in our prayers.

Dear Molpus Family ~
J.K. loved the Lord Jesus and was an inspiration to those of us who attended his classes about the second coming of our Lord.
He always spoke highly of his family and loved you so much! He truly will be missed by so many people but heaven is rejoicing that another believer has made it home.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I'll always remember Mr. Molpus with a smile on his face and usually sharing an update with me about Lane's latest news. I'm so very glad that I finally took his class on Revelation a few short years ago. My love to the family. I'm sorry I won't be able to be there as you celebrate his meaningful life.

J.K. was a delightful person; I worked with him at FPL over 15 years ago and could always be assured that when I saw him he would have something funny and/or encouraging to say. He will be missed.

To the family: Your dad, my friend J.K.Molpus, was one of the finest men I've ever known. He was my role model and ideal from the time he was my Sunday School teacher many years ago. He was the epitome of Christian authenticity, genuineness, spiritual depth. I already miss him and always will.
