Mildred Effrain Obituary

Mildred K. Effrain passed away gracefully on Thursday, January 19, 2015 at the Evergreen Assisted Living Facility, Ormond Beach. The daughter of the late Glenn and Wilheminia Miller Walker, Mildred was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 6, 1920. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York, Mildred continued her education at Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1942 with an RN degree. Pursuing a career in teaching, Mildred graduated from Oglethorpe University in 1962 and taught third grade until her retirement in 1981. She spent her retirement years enjoying her hobbies of reading and partaking in jig saw puzzles. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of sixty five years, the late Donald Effrain, They had one daughter, Patricia (Bill) Schuldt. She is survived by her sister, Dorothea Mangels, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, January 23, 2015 at 1pm from the Westside Baptist Church, 1085 Mason Avenue, Daytona Beach. The viewing will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 4-6 pm. at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Beach. Memorials may be made to Evergreen Assisted Living Facility, 720 Santa Ana Avenue, Ormond Beach, Florida. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com
