William Sachs Obituary

1921 2006 Reverend Wm. Nelson Sachs, age 85, of Springfield, Missouri, was promoted to his Father's House on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18, 2006. He was born February 23, 1921 in Jefferson City, Missouri. The son of William Lewis Sachs and Mary Delphin (Wilson) Sachs, he was reared in Jefferson City. He received the call to the ministry at the age of fifteen and remained faithful to that call through- out his life. He pastored churches in Iberia, Versailles, Eldon, St. Louis and Bolivar, Missouri. In addition to being an active student of the Bible, he advanced his education with both a Bachelor of Science and Master's Degrees. While serving his full time pastorate in his earlier years, he taught high school English in both the Versailles and Eldon High Schools from 1960 to 1963. Reverend Sachs provided a leadership role in the Southern Missouri District of the Assemblies of God. After serving as an Assistant District Superintendent for fourteen years, he then served as the District Superintendent from 1980 to 1996. During this period he served as an Executive Presbyter for the Assembly of God Denomination nationally and on the Board of Directors of Central Bible College. He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Dixie Sachs. He is also survived by his three children: Dwain Sachs and his wife, Ila Sachs, of Piedmont, Missouri, Aaron Sachs and his wife, Shelly, of Springfield, Missouri and Joyce Beesley of Buffalo, New York one brother, Paul Sachs as well as six grandchildren: Angela Beesley, Rachael Beesley, Laura Sachs, David Sachs, Sarah Sachs and Will Sachs, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Sachs, who died in 1978 and one brother, Melvin Sachs of Tampa, Florida. Visitation is scheduled for tonight, June 20, 2006, at Greenlawn South in Springfield from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in Clark Chapel at James River Assembly of God Church, Ozark, Missouri at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21.
