Richard Nascimento Obituary

Ft. Myers - Richard J. Nascimento, 72, passed away at Lee Memorial Health Park on Monday April 11, 2016 surrounded by family. He leaves behind his wife Pauline (Dumas) Nascimento; a daughter Lisa Raposo, two sons Richard (Ashley) Nascimento and Marc (Alesha) Nascimento Seven grandchildren Michael Raposo, Nicole Raposo, Alyssa Rapoao, Victoria Raposo, Gabrielle Nascimento, Brock Nascimento, Reese Nascimento and four great grandchildren. Also surviving him are two brothers Arthur Nascimento and Anthony Nascimento and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is his first wife Norma Jean Dally and three sisters in Portugal.
Richard is a US Navy Veteran having served during the Cuban Blockade. He retired in 1991 from the Newark Police Dept after 25 years of service during with time he earned his bachelors degree in criminal justice from Rutgers University. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Fraternal order of the Moose, Fraternal Order Of Police.
A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion Post 274 on Buttonwood Dr. Fort Myers Beach, Fl. at 2:00 on Saturday April 30, 2016 In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society or to Hope Hospice which he held in very high regard.

Too many memories to list.... I was thinking about "Uncle Richie," Lisa, Richie Joe and Marc on Sunday, April 10th and heard later that week that he had passed. I am so sorry we have not stayed in close contact over the past several years outside of the yearly Christmas cards.
I am sorry for your loss, my dear cousins. We shared so many good times in our childhood years and early adult years in Manahawkin. Your parents are both missed terribly.

Richard, was a gentlemen cop. A classic member of the Greatest Generation.He was proud to wear the uniform of NPD and he wore it well. He was a credit to the force and always there when needed.
