Lillian Ramsey Obituary

Lillian Harris Ramsey passed away on March 3, 2023. She was born on July 17, 1942, in Nelson County, Va., to Lucy E. Phillips and Eldridge H. Harris.

She grew up in Lovingston, Va. She completed school at Nelson County High School. In the years following, she devoted much of her time to taking care of her family. Lillian met her husband Earnest and in the coming years, they welcomed two beautiful daughters while travelling with the Army. After relocating back to Virginia in 1973, she worked many years at Morton's, the public school cafeteria, and 28 years at the Lovingston Pharmacy before retiring.

Lillian was a very friendly person who always welcomed everyone with a smile. A very private woman as well, but always had open arms and willing to lend a helping hand wherever she could. She had a very compassionate heart and she loved her family dearly.

In the last years, she rekindled her love for the beach and enjoyed taking trips with her family. At home, you could find her playing with her great grandchildren, watching the animals in the yard, or watching Gunsmoke, gameshows, or a cooking show.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Eldridge Harris; stepmother, Gladys Harris; husband, Earnest J. Ramsey; one brother, Eldridge "Buck" Harris; and numerous step siblings.

She leaves behind two daughters, Brenda Bowling (Chuck) of Fredricksburg, and Rebecca Roberts (Jeff) of Staunton; four granddaughters, Danielle Kennedy (Chad) of Afton, Amber Fitzgerald (De'Shawn) of Lovingston, Courtney Blackwell (DiJohn) of Albemarle, and Ashley Fitzgerald of Amherst; one grandson, Matthew Kennedy (Brittany) of Schuyler; great-grandchildren, Kolton, Kelsey, Paisley, Oscar, Raelynn, Malaya, and Johnny; and a special friend who she loved dearly, Lorraine Harris of Lovingston.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lovingston with Pastor John P. Campbell officiating.

Family and friends may sign her virtual guestbook at www.WellsSheffield.com.
