Annie Davis Obituary

Annie M. Davis God saw in His infinite and wise providence that Annie M. Davis was tired so God called her home to be with Him. Annie was born April 7, 1931 to the late Joe McDaniel and Addie White McDaniel. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband who she loved and adored, Reverend Bernard L. Davis, Sr.; her son who she cherish, Bernard L. Davis, II, "Bernie"; one sister, Marion Wheeler and one brother, Robert McDaniel. Annie graduated from Central High in Amherst as valedictorian and moved to Washington, DC and graduated from Howard University with a degree in Elementary Education and also attended Lynchburg College. Annie taught in Nelson and Campbell Counties where she retired from Yellow Branch Elementary School, Rustburg. Annie was a member of New Dearington Baptist Church, where her husband was former pastor. She was very involved in the church, she was a Deaconess, a Sunday School Teacher and sung on the Senior and Mass Choirs of New Dearington. She was a member of the Minister Wives and Ministers' Widows Association of Lynchburg and Vicinity and served in several capacities. Those left to cherish her memories are, her daughter, Glenda Campbell, of Woodbridge, VA; one son, Rev. Bertram L. Davis, Sr., of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Talecia Morton, Travis Morton, both of Woodbridge, VA; Zachary Davis, of Charottesville, VA, Bernard L. Davis, III, of Fairfax, VA, Bertram L. "Bj" Davis, Jr. and Adrienne R. Davis, both of Rustburg and a host of cousin, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012 1:00 PM at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Artemus Dixon, officiating and Rev. Bertram L. Davis, Sr. as eulogist. The interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8 PM at New Dearington Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service and directed by Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
