Christine STONE Obituary

Christine Reynolds Stone

Christine Reynolds Stone, of Altavista, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Autumn Care, after a brief decline in health. She was born July 10, 1908, and grew up in Renan.

Educated at Bluefield College, University of Virginia and the Louisville Baptist Theological Seminary, Christine taught in public schools for 28 years. She also was active in the churches that her husband, Samuel R. Stone Jr., pastored. She had a lifelong passion for sharing the good news of the Lord she served.

Surviving are a son, Samuel R. Stone III of Livermore, Calif.; a daughter, Harriet Stone Anderson Hardy of Danville; six grandchildren, Betty Cooper, Jennifer Keenan, Deborah Stone, George Anderson, Mark Anderson and Laura Crotts; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1617 Melinda Dr. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Monte Vista Baptist Church in Grit.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Fund through the Monte Vista Baptist Church, 1737 Grit Road, Hurt VA 24563; or to the Church itself.

It was such an honor knowing Chris, both in Sunday School and at
Autumn Care NH. She was an angel and special to everyone.

God needed a special angel, and he called Mrs. Stone for the job. I remember she always wrote bible versus on the blackboard every morning before school. My thoughts and prayers will be of you during this time. God will give you the comfort you need through this time.
