Jami Putt Obituary

Jami Danielle Putt Jami Danielle Putt of Lynchburg, VA passed away (unexpectedly) on Saturday September 10, 2011 after a long and difficult illness. Jami was born August 28, 1985 in Burlington NC. She was the 2nd daughter of Robert and Vicky Putt. Jami graduated from Chatham High School in Pittsylvania County in 2003 and achieved her CNA license in 2008. She was employed at Avante Nursing Home. Jami loved caring for her patients and went above and beyond her responsibilities to make their lives more com- fortable. She took pride in her calling and often worked when she herself was struggling with illness. Jami was an accomplished swimmer in her youth. At one time, she held records for the free style and butterfly at several area pools. She qualified for Virginia Junior Olympics and finished in the top ten in the state for her 50 free-style. On relay teams, she was always the one who swam the butterfly. She had a beautiful butterfly stroke that was so much fun to watch. Jami's long battle with an eating disorder and finally kidney failure made her sympathetic to other's frailties. She tended to feel the anguish of those who had similar struggles. One of her strong desires was to achieve a physical therapy assistant degree, overcome her illness, and spend the rest of her life coming to the aide of others. But, it was not to be. Her life was cut short before those dreams could be realized. However, in many ways, she touched the lives of those who knew her. She had such a compassionate spirit that families of her patients often called her their guardian angel. She entered a patient's room in a big way, made sure they knew she was there, and then proceeded to brighten their day with her "kidding" or encouraging words. She had a deep love for her aunts, uncles, and cousins and often had advice for them on how they should live their lives. Yes, Jami definitely had an opinion about nearly everything and did not mind sharing it. She had very little patience for opposing views since she was sure her way was the best way. Jami was preceded in death by her grandparents, Garland and Lucille Humphreys of Big Island, Va. In addition to her parents, she is survived by sisters, Ashley R. Putt and Chelsey L. Putt both of Chesapeake, VA, grand- parents Zelda and Billy Putt, step-grandmother Della Humphreys, all of Big Island, VA, Aunt Tammy and Uncle Clint Rivers of Ocean City Maryland, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Tim Putt, Aunt Debra and Uncle Joe Crawn, Aunt Betty Sue and Uncle Dean Burley, Aunt Teresa and Uncle Danny Putt, Aunt Julie and Uncle Melvin Putt, Aunt Joy and Uncle Ted Lang all of the Lynchburg area, and all those cousins spread from Texas to Maryland to Va. Visitation will be Tuesday Night September 13, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA. The funeral will be held at West Lynchburg Baptist Church at 3:30pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Interment will be at Big Island Cemetery along side her Nanny and PaPa. The family request memorials be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church Mission Fund (she desperately wanted to participate in another World Changers trip herself- but health and work did not allow her that privilege). We lost Jami entirely too soon but we pray her life and the lessons she taught those of us who knew her will live on into eternity. Her message to you today was found on the wall paper screen of her cell phone. It simply read "Have Faith". We place you, dear Jami, into the hands of the Great Physician and Healer who has now healed you and lovingly holds you in His precious care. Dance, sing, and praise the Lord now, our dear one, you have been set free. Save a place for us. Special thanks to those who provided for her medical needs, loved her, sat with her at dialysis, encouraged her, built her up, and prayed for her. The family cherishes your memories of her so please, facebook them, text them or send them an e-mail at tharpfuneralhome.com. (434) 237-94224.

Jami was my CNA for a year at Lynchburg Health and Rehab center. She was so special, she always had a smile on her face. I still have her number programmed into my phone. We talked often. She always had a hug and "love you" for me. Just know how many people loved her and always will. God bless all of you. She will be missed, Love and prayers. Maxine Holt

Putt family, I am so sorry for your loss of Jami. I worked with her at LHRC. She was a amazing young lady. I still recall all the days she would come in sick, refusing to go home, giving the best care to her residents. She was such a good worker, and prided herself in the work she did. You would never hear a complaint come out of Jami's mouth, even if the workload was heavy. She loved her residents and they loved her. Alot of them became disappointed if they knew Jami was off that day. Broke my heart to see the passing of Jami! I am sure she will be missed by so many who lnew and loved her. A smile that lit up the room. She now has her angel wings. R.I.P sweet Jami, you will live in so many hearts for eternity. God be with your family in this time of loss.

Robert, Vicky, Ashley and Chelsea,
I am so sad to hear this devestating news. Your family has been through so many trials. I know it may be hard to see now, but you are a stronger family because of those trials. You are so much stronger than you even realize. He has brought you through before, He will do it again. Hold onto that fact. I can't imagine your pain, yet her pain is gone. Jami was a sweetheart. I think she is the one who introduced Mark and I to IHOP. We had never been there before and we had so much fun with her when we went in. Now we are hooked to IHOP! I will always remember the closness of you girls. I can picture all of you sitting in church together with your arms around each other. There was never a doubt that you all were a tight knit family. Vicky, you will always be so special to me. You are an incredible woman. Jami and all your girls are so blessed to have you for a mom. I love you all and I will not cease to pray for your comfort, peace and strength.

Love,
Holly and Mark Simpson

I am so very sorry to hear about Jami. She and I both battled kidney failure at the same time and would often consult each other. I worked with her at Lynchburg Health and Rehab and would talk to her about her health issues and new obsticles she was facing. She was quite an inspiration to me and my daughter, who also worked with Jami and I recently lost as well. I know your hearts are aching but you can rejoice with joy to know she is healed and healthy. May you be comforted in knowing this.

I am so very sorry for your pain at this time. I can't imagine the heartache you must feel, but at the same time, the relief of knowing she no longer will struggle with her illness. She is God's child, and will now be free of infirmities of this life. God Bless you, a dear family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. May god be your comfort now and always. I worked with Jami at Guggenheimer and at LHRC, she gave good patient care at many times when she was not feeling well enough to be working( she was like the energizer bunny she kept on going). Now she can rest in peace and without pain or struggles. RIP.

Jamie...I know we weren't really friends, but thru mutual friends and working with you I know you struggled thru life with a smile on your face at all times. You will be missed by many but just the thought of you flying high in the sky eases the thought of how one can be called at such a young age. There will be no more suffering and pain for you...only happy days from here on out. R.I.P
