Martin BARNES Obituary

Martin Thomas "Marty" Barnes

Martin Thomas "Marty" Barnes went to be with his Maker, Friday, May 16, 2008.

Marty was born November 23, 1962, in Englewood, N.J. and was the son of the late Peter John Barnes and the late Patsy Ann Barnes. Also preceding him in death was his son, Martin Thomas Barnes, II, his maternal grandparents, Ross and Esther Morrison and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Violet Barnes.

To live on and remember him are his son, Joshuhua Marlin Barnes, his wife, Misty and granddaughter, Addison; his daughters, Brandy Michelle Barnes and Samantha Hensley; his very best friends, his brothers, Peter J. Barnes and Alban P. Barnes; his sisters, Angela M. Bowling and her husband, Kenneth, Vicki A. Harris and her husband, David, Cassandra L. Tharp and her husband, Michael and Roberta B. Robbins and her husband, John. Marty also leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews and four grand nieces and nephews whom he loved as if they were his own. Marty had so many great friends who loved him dearly that it would be impossible to list them all - but you know who you are.

Marty loved life - he never met a stranger and his door was always open to anyone who needed him. Marty loved NASCAR and John Wayne movies. He had a passion for music and loved singing. He would spend hours in jam sessions with his oldest and dearest friend, Robbie Boyer, who has honored us by agreeing to play guitar at Marty's memorial service, accompanied by Marty's nephew, Jason. Marty's pride and joy were his children and granddaughter. Above all else, he loved his family. He was a loving father and grandfather and the best brother anyone could ask for - he will be greatly missed!

Marty also loved his country and was very proud of his parents' military careers in the Marine Corps. Please consider making donations to the Marine Corps League or to the military branch of your choice.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Rd., with Father Jim Gallagher officiating.

Following the service, a celebration of Marty's life will be held at Marty's home. Everyone is welcome, please come.

No one understands God's purpose, only he knew why it was your time to be with him now. You were always there for Me & David, there was'nt a thing we could'nt ask from you and it would be done. I am trying so very hard not to be selfish, because I want you here with us. But knowing your so happy being there with your son and momma & daddy, is what helps me get thru this time.
