Robert Johnson Obituary

Robert Arthur Johnson Robert Arthur Johnson, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born May 6, 1934 in Stambough, Upper Pennisula, Michigan, he was a son of the late Arline Quever and Oliver B. Johnson.

Robert (Bob) moved with his family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin at age 5, was educated in Milwaukee Public Schools, Iowa State College and New York University. He worked in educational television in Milwaukee and produced medical films for Warner-Chilcott Pharmaceutical Company in Morris Plains,N.J., later becoming a Sales Representative for that company. He retired as Senior Professional Sales Representative from Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceutical Company, after twenty-eight years, receiving numerous achievement awards throughout his career.

Bob was a member of Peakland United Methodist Church, where he actively worshiped and served. He was involved in numerous past community projects and Boards, including Peakland Swim and Tennis Club, Lynchburg Fine Arts Center and the YWCA. He was a regular Blood Donor and for the past four years, volunteered with the Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Franklin Johnson, and would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on August 8th; sons Robert Patrick Johnson (Heather) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Craig Steven Johnson of Frederick, Maryland, Timothy Scott Johnson (Cindy) and Todd Robert Johnson of Lynchburg. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael and Duncan of Hendersonville, Christopher and Steven of Frederick; Caitlyn, Madison, of Lynchburg, Sarah, of Charlotte and Samantha, Robbie and Maggie of Myrtle Beach, S. C. , brothers Michael Johnson (Barbara) of El Cajon, California and Steve Johnson of Portland, Oregon, nieces Michele J. Sawaya , Deborah Johnson and nephew Scott Johnson. A Celebration of Life will be held at Peakland United Methodist Church on Friday, July 20th, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Edwin Clever and the Rev. Rachel May officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Chamberlain Fellowship Hall.
