Patrick G. Kenny

KENNY - Patrick G., 80, of Garden City So., NY and Ft. Myers, FL died on September 1st at home after four weeks of Hospice Care. He is the son of the late Beatrice Moran and Patrick J. Kenny, both of Roscommon, Ireland and Woodside, Queens. Pat is survived by Maureen, his loving wife of 47 years, his children Joyce, Sharon and Kevin, son-in-law Robert Peters as well as grandchildren Sean, Caileigh, Liam, Conlon, Dermont, Bridget, Claire, Tiernan and Nolan, ages sixteen to seven. He is also survived by four siblings, Jack Kenny, Mary Thomas, Kathleen Kennedy and Thomas Kenny, sisters-in-law Mae Kenny and Patricia V. Naidl and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Pat worked for NY Life Insurance for 37 years. Prior to that he was a Social Worker in the '70s and a Brooklyn Diocesan Priest in the '60s. In all his work, he was dedicated to ethical and caring service. Pat will always be known by his family, friends and clients for his kindness and willingness to go the extra mile. He loved his children and was delighted by his grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed sports, especially NY baseball teams and he always looked forward to playing golf with his buddies. He was a tireless advocate for Church Reform and Social Justice. He will be missed by the many who loved him dearly. Visitation Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 1201 Franklin Ave., Garden City, NY. Mass Wednesday at 11:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, West Hempstead, NY. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY.
