Reginald Feltham Obituary

FELTHAM-Reginald, completed his journey in passing on March 23, 2006. Reg was a world class swimmer in the 1940's shattering N.Y.C. and national breaststroke records throughout his high school and college years. Later, Reg was Director of Special Education for B.O.C.E.S. II on Long Island - selected "Educator of the Year" in 1976. Reggie will be remembered for his devotion to family, his commitment to quality education for everyone, his adventurous spirit, his work hard/play hard mentality and his awesome spoon playing. Reg is survived by his loving wife, Mary; adoring children Jonathan, Elizabeth, Susan, Barbara, Timothy, Andrew, Peter and their spouses Jan, Patrick McGreevy, Stephen Hamilton, Jeff Hayden, Holly, Margaret; cherished grandchildren Jenny, Dan, Jack, Blake, Jonah, Carrie, Kelly, Lee, Mary, Molly, Katie, Emily, Margaret, Peter, Jonny, Reggie, Jake, Graham, Anna; and great grandchild, Elizabeth. Reggie is also survived by his younger sister Elizabeth, and her husband Joe Baumgartner; his siblings-in-law Barbara and Vinnie MC Carthy, Judy and Doug Sommers, John Fornes, many neices, nephews and friends. Reginald Feltham wanted us all to live, love, laugh, and be happy! Reposing Friday 7-9pm and Saturday 12pm-1:30pm at Commack Abbey Inc, 96 Commack Road, Commack, NY. Funeral Service Saturday 1:30pm. Interment St. Margaret Cemetery, Plainview N.Y.

Reggy and I worked together in establishing special ed. programs for children in need. In all my years in education I never met anyone who was more dedicated,or who gave more of themselves to his profession than did Reggy. Rest in peace my friend.

In the early years of special education you and I both contributed to the development of educational materials for our special ed students. Later we vied for the same position at BOCES II, Dr Phelan hired you and you went on to do an outstanding job as the Director. That was a long time ago, my friend.
