Charles Minnich Obituary

Charles Walter Minnich, 87, of Tower City, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014.

Born in Wiconisco, July 31, 1927, he was a son of the late Walter L. and Laura Kohler Minnich.

Charlie was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He worked for many years on the family farm, Maple Lawn Dairy, a job he truly loved and enjoyed. He retired from the Union of Operating United Engineers with the railroad.

Charlie was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, where he had served on the council, as a Sunday school teacher, an usher and helped wherever he could. He was a member of the Ashlar Lodge 570 F&AM, Lykens; Harrisburg Consistory; Tower City American Legion; and volunteered delivering for Meals on Wheels and with Volunteer Home Care.

Charlie's life revolved around his family. He enjoyed being on his tractor, his horses and spending time at the ocean.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Raye Reedy; and a brother, Russell Minnich.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Sara R. Leisey Minnich; two daughters, Karen L. Bruner (Gary), Chambersburg, and Holly M. Hoffman (Bill), Pine Grove; five grandchildren, Jessica Rodichok (Paul), Caleb Bruner (Fredline), Sean Artz, Katie Bruner (Jason Vogel) and Monica Denver; 12 great-grandchildren, Isabella Marie Clark, Valerie Artz, Sean Artz, Gabriella Bruner, Zane Artz, Tristan Pereschuk, Maddox Artz, Sophia Bruner, Cecilia Bruner, Nick and Gage Vogel and Rayven Denver; a brother, Harry Minnich (Joan), Tower City; four sisters, Mae Cortez, Tremont, Lorraine Abrams, Tower City, Joan Miller (Warren), Tower City, and Janet Shutt, Tower City; and nieces and nephews he adored.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, with the Rev. Linda Bonfiglio officiating. Interment with military honors was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing was held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at the church. A Masonic service was held at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 415 E. Grand Ave., Tower City, PA 17980.
