Eugene Brokus Obituary

ELYSBURG - Eugene F. Brokus, 76, of Elysburg, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 4, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Shamokin, March 27, 1947, a son of the late Jean (O'Shinskie) and Vincent Brokus.

Eugene was the husband of Margaret "Peggy" A. (Shinskie) Brokus. They were married June 28, 1969, and were married for 54 years.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Eugene graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School with the Class of 1965. He then graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science in education. He also attended Susquehanna University.

He was a teacher at Mount Carmel Area High School for 30 years where he taught French and Latin.

Eugene enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Brokus, of Elysburg; a son David Brokus Sr., of Catawissa; three grandchildren, David Jr., Luke and Abby; two brothers, Vincent Brokus, of Shamokin, and Joseph Brokus (Judy), of Elysburg; a sister, Cathy Khanna (Sudhir), of Overlook; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Brokus; and a daughter, Amy Jo Hager.

BROKUS - Eugene F. Brokus, 76, of Elysburg. Services will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's Hospital, P.O. Box 1999 Memphis, TN 38101. Rothermel-Heizenroth-Clark Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 387 W. Valley Ave. Elysburg, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
