David Arrants Obituary

David Lee Arrants was born October 1935 in Lilbourn, Missouri, during the time of the depression. His family moved several times looking for work, and they ended up settling on a farm in Washington. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1953 and then joined the Air Force. He was stationed in North Dakota, met and married Delores Lefavor, and had two children, Robert and Denise.
His next journey took him to Clear Air Force Station in Alaska in 1961 where he worked as an electronics technician.
In the summer of 1970, he moved to Fairbanks where he met and married his beautiful and loving wife, Erma Wright. They celebrated their 50-year golden anniversary in 2020.
Soon after their marriage, he became an Alaska State Trooper, with long assignments in Barrow.
He retired after 20 years of service and started his second career as an Alyeska Pipeline security guard which involved fun, memorable experiences patrolling the pipeline in a helicopter.
Dave's greatest joys in life were fishing, flying throughout Alaska in his plane The Mighty Moonie, and playing guitar, especially enjoying the banjo and electric guitars.
His life was one of adventure and service. He passed away peacefully in Wasilla in October 2023 in his daughter's home surrounded by his children, Denise, Robert, Monica and Cindy.
He is surpassed by his parents, Alva Arrants and Helen (Stobbe) Arrants; his brothers, Allen and Larry; wife, Erma; as well as the many friends waiting in heaven for him.
He leaves behind his siblings, Curtis and Karen; children, Denise, Bob, Monica, Cindy, Ken, Craig and Alfred; and grandson, Kenneth.
Interment will be on solstice, June 21, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Northern Lights Memorial Park in Fairbanks.

Dave was my partner on the Alaska pipeline at pump station 3. One of my favorite memories is of him walking out towards the sag River with his fishing pole, mosquito net hat and a shot gun to go fish for grayling. He was an avid fisherman and we went on more than a few fishing adventures around Alaska for kings and reds. We had good time cruising to fishing holes in his RV. I enjoyed staying in touch over the years. Now he is off to the greatest adventure.

I met Dave when assigned to Fairbanks in 1974 and immediately connected with Dave and many years later called him and we had a wonderful conversation about our careers with Alaska State Troopers. Dave was a very likable person and will be missed. My condolences to family and friends. My best to all. Brad Brown

Arriving at Clear AK in June 1961 myself I remember the name but not much further. I spent 40 years at Clear and have been retired for 23 but still live in the neighborhood. Cannot think of anyone else who would remember. I was a technician my self. My sincere condolences to the family of Dave.
