Kenny Weeks Obituary

Kenny Douglas Weeks, went home to the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2018.
Kenny was born in on Dec. 7, 1962, Madera, California, but spent his childhood between California and Oklahoma.
Always a hard worker, Kenny, played semipro football for the Oklahoma Thunderchiefs during their impressive run through the early 1980s, while working a full-time day job as a roofer. Once Kenny started a family, they became his main focus and eventually brought them to Alaska, where he made it their home.
Kenny coached both his sons in football in numerous little league and peewee teams throughout Oklahoma and Alaska. Kenny followed his youngest son through his football career becoming an assistant coach at Monroe Catholic High school. He then retired from high school football so he could coach two of his grandsons, Darius and Julius Morgan, in the Fairbanks Youth Football program. In his free time, Kenny played and coached softball with his family as well as serving as a board member for Golden Heart Softball Association. As a player-coach, his teams achieved great success. His coed team "Hot Shots" won the city and state title in 2015. A very charismatic figure, he always played hard, never gave up and was very well known for his pep talks. Kenny could get anybody fired up, he was the type of guy who never quit.
He will be missed by many, especially his furry best friend, Samson.
Kenny is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Sophia Weeks; his parents, Joyce and Elton "Moe" Mosley; his siblings, Danny Francher, Yvette Weeks, Lisa Williams, Brian Mosley, their spouses and children; his children, Misty Weeks, Adam Weeks, Celina Risner, Sarah Ames, Isaiah Weeks, Samantha Weeks, Grace Weeks and their spouses; many grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He is also survived by multiple in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Please join his family to share memories with on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Chief Peter John Tribal Hall, 111 Clay Street, Fairbanks. Viewing is at noon with service held at 1 p.m., and a potlatch to follow at 5 p.m. Online condolences may be made at blanchardfamilyfuneralhome.com.
