Ann Fearrington Obituary

Ann Peyton Fearrington

Raleigh

Ann Peyton Fearrington (born August 25 1945 and died October 18 2018) went by Peyton during her early life and Ann during the second half of her life.

She was a devoted mother and published children's book author and illustrator. She was preposterously kind and loving. She had a fiery temper. She was a famously awful cook. Her sense of humor could only be described as "Seussian".

She was born with an artistic sensibility that drove her to write poems, newspaper articles, novels, and children's book and ensured she would say the wrong thing in social settings. She made many mistakes in her life - though maybe less than most of us. Her legacy is her love of children reflected in her own children, grandchildren, and the books she wrote.

She is survived by her husband, Vance Cox; her two children, Dr. James Russ and Joseph Russ, her granddaughters Lucy Anne Fearrington Russ and Zadie Mary Fearrington Russ, her sisters Florence Fearrington of New York and Jessica Travis of New Orleans and a step-son Jonathan Cox.

The family expresses appreciation for her caregivers, Valerie, Sierra, Christine and others.

We miss her terribly and it will always be that way.

My deepest sympathies. May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Always remember that God keeps in his memory those whom we lose because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15)

Please accept my dearest and heartfelt sympathy. I am so sorry for your loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. Isaiah 61:1,2
