Arthur will be deeply missed by all.He was so pleasant, smart and witty- and it was always a pleasure to be in his and Marian's company! In paricular, at Wrightsville Beach! He was blessed with a wonderful family and a good life! He will never be forgotten and we are all so fortunate to have known him.Knowing how much he loved sailing,we will be especially thinking of him today when we attend the Annapolis Sailboat Show.

With love,
Elaine Steele and Family

I first met Arthur with my employer and good friend, Bill Basnight, in the latter 1970's on a project and I will never forget their story-telling, humor and "gift for gab". Arthur was a true gentleman with a deep love for Carolina and the Beta house.

Thank you Arthur for all that you have taught me, not just as a young architect and more recently as a collegue, about having fun in our great profession, about friendship, and about teaching. I will always cherish the time at Cogswell , on the boards, over some great food and with good friends. All my best to Marian and the great family.

Arthur Cogswell, deep down, was a poet and a dreamer. He deeply loved his wife Marian and his two daughters, Sophie and Amanda, and his grandchildren, Amanda's Sayer and Sinclair and Sophie's Sam.

He was the dearest person I've ever known, and I think many old friends, such as myself, feel the same way about Arthur.

Alors, bon voyage, Arthur.

My first real job out of school was working for Arthur at Cogswell/Hausler during the early '80s. We all knew we were very lucky to be there in his presence and I look back on those years with great fondness.
