May 31, 1927 - May 12, 2025

Rolesville, North Carolina - Robert Lee "Bill" Mitchell, 97, of Rolesville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025 at WakeMed just days before his 98th birthday. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Clarence and Vera Mitchell and was retired from Wake Electric Membership Corporation as a Line Foreman after 41+ years of service.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of Rolesville Baptist Church and was the last living charter member of the Rolesville Rural Fire Department. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in WWII and was an avid Wake Forest High School Booster Club member. He attended many high school sporting events as well as many Rolesville Recreation League games.

Mr. Mitchell was honored by the Town of Rolesville as "Citizen of the Year" in 1993. The Chamber of Commerce honored him with "Community Leader of the Year" in 2024. He was also recognized in 2023 as the oldest living veteran in Rolesville. He was so proud of having a "lifetime pass" to all Cougar sporting events that had been presented to him and his wife many years ago for his contributions to the Athletic program in Wake Forest.

The family would like to thank the Rolesville Rural Fire Department for their dedication and support to Bill and JoAnn for all these years!

Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning, May 16, 2025, at Rolesville Baptist Church, 203 E. Young St., Rolesville, NC 27571. Entombment will follow in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mitchell, Jr. (Carolyn); Brother: Willie Gray Mitchell (Sandra); Grandchildren: Bryan Liles, Derek Liles (Nancy), Melanie Halterman (Tom), Daniel Langenberg (Audrey Kreske), David Langenberg (Leslie), Ashley Lattier (Josh), Kevin Mitchell; Great Grandchildren: Lydia & Lauren Liles, Rachel, Taylor & Cory Halterman, Zach Langenberg (Kacey), Jordyn & Colton Langenberg, Harrison Underwood, Evelyn & Henry Lattier.
