Exxa Hobbs Obituary

Exxa Teague Hobbs, 73, died August 11, 2007 after a long struggle against the effects of Scleroderma.
She was born on March 20, 1934 near Birmingham, AL. Her parents were Hasel and Margaret Teague of Birmingham.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gayle K. Hobbs; three children; and four grandchildren. Her children are daughters, Donna Lynn Lockard and her husband, Mickey of, Hazel Green, AL, and Robyn Darlene Shoemaker and her husband, Jon of, Clayton, NC; son, Kaydon G. Hobbs and his wife, Debi of, Raleigh, NC. Her grandchildren are Matthew Lockard, Mark Lockard, Lauren Hobbs Sexton, and Anna Shoemaker.
She was very active in her church, New Community Church of Raleigh, and in the citywide Community Bible Study in Raleigh. She touched the lives of many people, was loved by many, and was a positive influence in their lives.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Community Church. Interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road.
The family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to New Community Church, 9621 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC, 27615 and/or to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr., Danvers, MA 01923.

Exxa was one of the most amazing women I have ever had the honor to know. She most definitely touched my life. Watching her walk with the Lord was inspiring to see. She will be missed, but Heaven is surely rejoicing to have her Home!
