May 1, 1936 ~ June 17, 2013
Apex
Frances Hurst Lawrence, 77, of the Olive Chapel community, died June 17, 2013.
Frances was known by many as one of the biscuit ladies in the Apex Lions Club booth at the North Carolina State Fair. She and her husband Tommy farmed together for 46 years before his death in 2000. She was employed at Smith and Smith in Apex until her retirement in 2003, and a faithful member of Olive Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the Hospitality committee. She will be lovingly remembered for her quiet and fitting words of support, her quick wit, her cross-stitched gifts, her delicious meals, and her unwavering faith.
She was a loving mother to daughter, Kathy Chalk and husband Steve of Morehead City, son Jimmy Lawrence and wife Sydney of Apex, and a devoted grandmother to Stephen and wife Katie of Morehead City, and Thomas Chalk of Apex. A loving God allowed her to live to enjoy her great grandson, Weeks Chalk. Also surviving are her sister, Caroline Truelove (Harold), brothers-in-law David Lawrence and Mike Lawrence (Pat), sisters-in-law Nancy Walker (Pete) and Jacque Huber (Ron), all of Apex. Frances was a special aunt to twelve nieces and nephews, twenty-two great nieces and nephews, two great-great nephews. She also leaves a host of loving friends and church family members.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lawrence, her parents Marvin and Elizabeth Dail Hurst, her sister Irene Hurst, and her in-laws, Jack and Kathleen Lawrence.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Olive Chapel Baptist Church, Apex. Burial will be in Olive Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following service in the church fellowship hall.
The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate support of the Lineberger Cancer Center at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, Rex Rehab of Apex, and family and friends over the past year. The devoted care of Pat Lawrence and Caroline Truelove sustained Frances during her illness.
Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Olive Chapel Baptist Church, 600 New Hill-Olive Chapel Road, Apex, NC 27502, or to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

I am sad to hear about Frances' passing. I remember her from Curves where she would come with her sister Caroline. She always laughed a lot and cared about people even more. She was a wonderful person, and it was always clear how much her family and friends meant to her. I am thinking of you so much. Delphie Broughton Apex, North Carolina

To all of Ms Francis family:
Not often does someone come along that touches the lives of so many people like Ms Francis. I and my family grew to love and cherish each time we saw her, talked to her and share in her great sense of humor and love of life and service. She touch so many lives and made us better for having known her. Life at our Apex Lions Fair booth will never be the same and she will be long remembered by all who knew her. We have lost a great lady from our community.

Kathy & Jimmy, I am so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mother, "Miss Frances." She was by far one of the finest people the Lord has ever placed on this earth. I, and so many others growing up in the Olive Chapel Community, were so very blessed to have known and loved her. She was a role model for us all, and always met us with a big hug and sweet smile. She was so very special to me and my family and we will miss her dearly. My prayers are with you all during this very difficult time.
