Francis William Dellinger

Francis William Dellinger, 80, of Cary, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Mayview Convalescent Center, Raleigh, after an extended illness with Mesothelioma.
Francis was born September 27, 1926 in Richmond County to Charlie Lee and Ella Pinson Dellinger.
He was a WWII Marine Corp veteran where he served as a member of the Admiral Honor Guard. He attended Campbell University. Francis later began a baseball career with the Raleigh Caps and played other minor league baseball throughout North Carolina and Tennessee. In 1959 he began his business, F.W. Dellinger Plastering Company, retiring in 1991. Francis had many hobbies which included, wood turning, playing golf and refurbishing old golf clubs. He was also a member of Ephesus Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by both family and friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine Godwin; brothers, Howard Dellinger; and Charles Dellinger.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda King Dellinger; son, Kirk Dellinger and his wife, Diane of Sanford; daughter, Carl D. Collins of Cary; brothers, Cecil Dellinger and his wife, Mary of Garner, Eugene Dellinger of Pembroke; sister, Ruth D. Core of Raleigh; grandchildren, Steve Dellinger of Cary, Sedrick Dellinger and his wife, Bethany of Fairview, NC; great-grandchildren, Isaac Dellinger and Avila Dellinger; step-grandchildren, Ashylyn Terry; and Jansen Terry;many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27606, with Rev. Greg Templin and Rev. Les Giles officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
