BUNN
Herbert Lyons Costolo, III, 49, of Bunn, NC, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died Sunday, August 19, 2012.
Herb is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his son, Ben; and his daughter, Erin; his parents; Herbert and Emelie Costolo of Bluffton, SC; brothers, John Costolo (Tracy) of Australia, and Ronald Costolo of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law; Jan Ross; and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. at Bunn Baptist Church, 205 E. Jewett Ave., Bunn, NC 27508.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be sent to Occoneechee Council of Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 41229, Raleigh, NC 27629.

Lisa, The last time our paths crossed was at our wedding. See attached photo. We spent many memorable hours together on the PSU HPV project. I can't believe he is no longer with us at such a young age. My wife Jean and I are so sorry to hear this sad news.

Herb is steadying the HPV while our rider gets in before his race. I think this was Moffett Field in California...

Dear Lisa,

I am an old Friend of Herb's from Penn State. He was a good buddy of mine in Blue Band, Jazz Band, ASME and he was on the ASME Human Powered Vehicle Team that went to Santa Barbara, CA to race together... I was trying to re-connect with him and learned of his untimely passing. I am SO SORRY to hear. Please accept my sincere sympathies to you, your kids and your family. Herb will surely be missed by all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Herb was a wonderful caring person who I will always hold dear in my heart. I spent the past year in contact with him again and am grateful for that reconnection. He was my boyfriend and prom date in high school so it was fun laughing and remembering our high school escapades again after all these years. I don't understand any of what happened but I know that he was a good person and we are all better for knowing him. I know i am. Much love to the family.

My heart goes out to the family of Herb Costolo. I grew up knowing Herb as a fun-loving guy and very free spirited. He had such an influence on me during his last months of living. Herb was always smiling and laughing. He is missed by many. I am sorry to hear of this and wish I could be at the funeral.

my condolences to Herb's family. I met him at Ingomar Middle school in Pittsburgh. Herb was a kind and gentle soul. I hadn't seen him since we all left NA in 1981. I see he lived in Bunn, NC and I'm not far from there. I wish I knew he was so close. My thoughs and prayers to his family.

My heart goes out to you. Herb was such a good person. He was very kind to me when I transferred to NA Jr. year. I didn't have many friendly faces in the halls that year, but Herb's was one of the few I had. I am still grateful. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Costolo Family, I am one of the many friends of Herb's from all the way back to Espe Elementary school. It was a blessing to get reacquainted with Herb at our high school reunion last summer in Pittsburgh. We laughed at the old school pictures and about the memories of childhood fun. He was the same sweet spirit that I recall. I am deeply saddened at his passing. Please know he touch many hearts over his years. May you be comforted by God's grace in your time of sorrow.
