Hugh Culvahouse Obituary
December 26, 1945 - May 3, 2023
Wilson, North Carolina - Hugh Culvahouse, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Joyner's Funeral Home in Wilson, NC and at other times at the home of Jeannie and Dean Mercer. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM at Joyner's Funeral Home. Entombment will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson, NC immediately following the funeral service. Father Paul Edgerton will officiate.
Hugh worked as a trucker and diesel mechanic for Forbes Transfer and for Hallmart Trucking in Wilson, NC. His passion was cooking, especially for his loving family. Family was the most important thing to Hugh and he cherished the time he spent with them. He will be dearly loved and missed by all those who knew him.
Hugh is survived by his daughters; Donna Baker of Wilson and Jeannie Mercer and husband, Dean of Lucama; son, Willie Culvahouse and wife, Beth of Washington, NC; grandchildren; Samantha, Kristin, Trey, Rebecca, Emily, Josh, and Taner; great-grandchildren; Jayden, Kelly and Noah; and his beloved dog, Sassy, better known as "Pooch."
Hugh was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Martha Culvahouse; parents; Ruel Culvahouse and Evelyn Johnson; sister, Betty Davis; and brothers; Hurst Culvahouse, Jr., Donnie Culvahouse and Cecil Johnson.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at ECU Health- Wilson, WakeMed, 3HC, and the Sunshine Agency.
