Ira Rubin Obituary

Ira Asher Rubin

October 27, 1963 - November 22, 2018

Raleigh

Ira Rubin passed away peacefully on November 22, 2018 after a long, hard battle with cancer. Although he was taken way too early, he left a lasting impression on anyone that he met. He was strong-willed, stubborn and knew how to put up a fight, but his relentless compassion and love proved him to be the softest and kindest man. He is survived by his daughters, Taelor and Sydney Rubin; his brother, Laurence Rubin; his sister in law, Nancy Martin Rubin; his nephews, Sam and Tucker Rubin; his mother and step father, Geraldine and Norman Steinberg; his step brothers, Kenneth and Michael Steinberg; and so many incredible and caring friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Henri Rubin.

Ira's wishes were that we would hold a celebration of life in his honor in place of a funeral. We will notify everyone about this celebration when we've made arrangements. Condolences may be shared at CremationSocietyNC.com

Dear Rubin Family,
We are so sad to just learn about Ira's passing. Ira Rubin. Ira was one of a kind. He spoke his mind, and you always knew what he thought. He was smart, hard working and driven to succeed when my husband, Michael, met him back at National College of Chiropractic. Ira was a dear friend of Michael's as they worked to become the best educated chiros, and shared plans of how to build great practices. My husband loved Ira as a dear friend, who's presence was always known with his strong personality and unfiltered opinions! Ira stood up for us in our wedding. His bright green eyes and great smile will be remembered. His commitment to chiropractic was evident. My sincere sympathy to his two daughters. Carry your Dad's spark and strength with you. May your memories of him make you smile and always remind you of how much you are loved.
Sending love and prayers,
Dina and Michael O'Connor D.C.

I just learned about Ira's passing. I am so deeply saddened. He treated me for 20 years and was the best chiropractor I've ever been to. But mostly, he was a good person and we became friends. We shared a love of music and often shared stories and concerts and talks about our kids. When my kids became grown he treated them too. I really can't believe he is gone, I had been thinking how I needed to tell him about my latest music venture because he's appreciate it, and then I found out he passed over a year ago. I know how much he loved his family and often told stories about his daughters and his life growing up. He was such a kind and wonderful person and his passing surely leaves a hole in the world.

Ladies, your father was a good guy! We had many laughs, heart felt talks, arguments about sports and watched each other's children grow up via the office visits! My chiro. care hasn't been the same since he sold the practice : ( I'm sorry I just found out he passed. I sure hope the PARTY will be or was GRAND! You are missed Ira!

Ira was the best (and best looking!) chiropractor I ever had and the only one who ever helped me. I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of his passing although I hadn't seen him in 3 yrs. He often spoke of his daughters and he will be greatly missed by many.

Dear Ira,
It's hard to realize you are gone. We did not even get to say good-bye. You have been our family's Chiropractor for over 25 years. You helped us not only with our health, but with life. It was impossible to visit your office and not leave with a laugh or a smile. As our boys, Luke and Lee, grew and were able to drive to your office on their own, they would often come home with a story or advice you had given them. Advice about sports, attending college, dating, cars, many of the normal every day events in our lives we shared.

You had hundreds of patients but somehow seemed to remember the details of our lives as you came to know each of us better with each visit. I recall the time when both boys were playing little league baseball and you called and asked if we would like box tickets to one of the Durham Bulls games. Another time after Lee joined the golf team at school, he came home telling us that you were at the Preston driving range with your daughter Taelor and how you were helping him with his swing we will always remember your kindness. Recently when Luke was traveling to Brooklyn to attend the ACC tournament , you gave him a list of places to visit along with your cell phone number, telling him to call you if he ran into any trouble.

I'll miss bantering with you about sports games, coaches, and players and in general just sharing life with you. Taelor, Your dad always looked forward to your Golf matches. I think those were some of his happiest days looking forward to the next trip. Sydney, know that your dad loved you very much!

Much Love, Alan, Sherry, Luke, Lee Dickinson

IRA! No! We knew he was fighting cancer. He wasn't shy about his fight. But you never think this, you think, he can beat this, he's Ira. The story of jumping the creek at Lochmere Golf Club and totally missing will forever live in our memories. The words of wisdom when it came to discussing college choices (ECU). The proud dad stories when it came to his daughters. Seeing the notice in the office hit like a brick. One quickly scrambles to hear his bellow from the back. The laugh that followed after listening to a corny joke. This was Ira. The office just got smaller, quieter. My heart goes out to his daughters with prayers of strength. He will be missed terribly.

Taelor and Sydney,
Don and I are so incredibly sad to hear of your dad's passing. Ira was such a fun person and whenever we saw him, he always made us laugh about something. He was so incredibly proud of you both and loved to fill us in on what was happening with you two. Please know that we are thinking of you and the entire family during this sad time. He will be missed but his light will continue to shine in the prides of his life.....you two. Hugs to you both.

Where do I start? Loved, loved loved Dr. Rubin and he was so so very good to me not only as an employee, but as a caring friend. My heart hurts for his family and friends. I will never forget the mornings I showed up for work...I always made his coffee just the way he wanted as he walked into the office. He was dressed to impress each and every day and his confidence was amazing. He made me such a hard worker and today I thank him. Will miss you dearly.

Taelor and Sydney, my heart goes out to you. Your dad was such a support to me when we both went through our divorces. He had a heart of gold and so freely shared such incredible life wisdom and perspective. His life ended way too soon, but you are so blessed to have had such a wonderful, dedicated, heartful father. His spirit is within you and will carry you for the rest of your lives.

Taelor and Sydney, am so sorry to hear of your loss. I was a patient of your Dad for many years and as I have two daughters around the same age, he shared stories of what you were up to. He was so proud of your accomplishments. Not only did he help relieve my back pain but he always made me laugh... He will be missed by many!

Dear Taoler and Sydney,

I was fraternity brother of your father's and we even lived together in 1983. I have fond memories of your Dad and am very saddened to learn of his passing. Over the past several days many of your Dad's old college friends have reconnected and shared memories of our time with your Dad. Unfortunately, our fraternal bonds prevent me from ever repeating those times but I can say with conviction that your father was a big presence in the PIKE house and he will be sorely missed by many of his brothers. My sincere condolences to you both.

This has saddened me so. Dr. Rubin was the nicest person to visit and he was relentless in helping his patients in their wellness.
He always had a smile and a joke for us.
He loved the Green Bay Packers and I gave him some memorable from Lambeau Stadium that made him smile,
He will truly be missed by many.
