Lorraine Renfroe Obituary

Lorraine Catherine Renfroe died peacefully on August 10, 2008.
She was born on October 20, 1932 in Cincinnati, OH and was raised in Texas, which she considered her home. She was the daughter of Clarence G.S. Birkofer and Stella Jackson Kirkland both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Renfroe was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Philathea SS Class, the Ruth Circle, and the Edith Chapter No. 160 Order of the Eastern Star. She worked in the nursing field in a career that spanned over two decades in both Virginia and North Carolina. During her retirement years, she served as a Stephen Minister, Sunday School Teacher, and Hospice volunteer. In addition to her family and her work in the health care field her greatest love was the church.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Luther L. Renfroe; her daughter, Judy Richards and husband, George of Raleigh; her daughter, Suzanne Ait and husband, Jeff of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren, Brittany Ait of Wilmington and Jordan Ait of Myrtle Beach, SC; Greer Richards and Jessica Richards of Raleigh; her brothers, Michael Kirkland of Ava, MO, and Karl Kirkland and Dickie Kirkland of Marshfield, MO.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Cary. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 117 S. Academy Street, Cary, NC 27511 or the American Heart Association, Memorial and Tributes Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
The family would like to extend its deepest thanks to Dr. Gerald Blake, Dr. Tina Harris, Jennifer Ellis and the wonderful nurses at Rex Hospital for their kindness and care over the years.
