Thomas Glassford Obituary

Thomas Richard Glassford
Enterprise, OR
Thomas Richard Glassford, 64, of Enterprise, Oregon, passed away on February 23, 2012. He was born in Woodruff, SC, on October 22, 1947, to Anne and the late Richard Glassford. In addition to his mother of Raleigh, he is survived by his wife, Alicia Glassford; daughter, Julie Glassford, of Sonora, CA; brother, Dr. Fred Glassford and wife, Vicky, of Burlington, NC; sister, Joanne Glassford, of Raleigh; nephew, Joseph Glassford, and niece, Jamie Glassford, both of Burlington, NC.
After high school, Tommy served four years in the US Air Force and afterward graduated from the University of Idaho. Lover of the outdoors, he then began an illustrious career with the US Forest Service, serving in Idaho and Oregon and teaching US Forest Service courses across the country. His other loves included photography, books, running, training his horses, playing his guitar, working on his tree farm, and backpacking, living and working in the beautiful Oregon mountains. However, the greatest love of his life was his wife, Alicia.
Tommy will be greatly missed, and his spirit will always be in our hearts. He touched hundreds of lives with his caring and generous spirit, his special humor, his meticulous work ethic, his impact as a beloved scout master, and his philosophical and logical thinking by which he mediated many legal cases for the US Forest Service.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Fisher House Foundation, which supports America's military in their time of need, at 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850-5168 (www.fisherhouse.org) or a charity of choice.

We knew Tom for many years, he was a dear neighbor
and a great friend. The times we had dinner with them at
our home and theirs, the special bottles of wine he always presented. We remember with joy and laughter our
teaching him Mexican dominos, especially his big grin when we gave him a framed picture of his score, when he finally won a game! His many visits out to our ranch- the Pallette. His help and advice with us and some of the other ranches on the Imnaha River. For all the things we did and said, we'll miss you Tom. You'll be in our hearts, and we'll always remember the good times. Love George & Helen 3/31/12
