William Morris Barber (35) died November 2 at his Raleigh home. Will was born in Winfield, IL, the son of Michael Edward Barber and Mary Morris Barber. He grew up in Illinois and Connecticut, the middle child of five siblings. He graduated from Hyde School in Woodstock, Connecticut. Not long after high school, Will moved to Raleigh to follow a friend's lead on a job and he remained here for the rest of his life. Will worked primarily as a server in casual restaurants, where his extroverted and fun-loving personality was appreciated by customers and co-workers alike.
Will is remembered by his many friends in Raleigh, his longtime friends from school, and by a widespread virtual community based in online gaming. Will was preceded in death by his father and by his infant son, William Mack "Liam" Barber. He is survived by his four siblings: Alisa (A. Daniel) Leleika of White House, TN; Matthew (Robyn) Barber of Grayslake, IL; James (Kendall) Barber of Hainesville, IL; and Samuel Barber of Chicago, IL. Survivors also include five nieces and two nephews. A gathering of remembrance has been held in Raleigh; a family memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
