Bill was born in Charlotte Aug. 1, 1927, to Hugh Graves and Elizabeth Morrison Boyer.
He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and the Gimghoul Society.
Bill served in the United States Army, and was stationed in Korea.
Bill married Ruth Boyce Edgerton March 22, 1952, and moved to Goldsboro in 1953, where he worked with his father-in-law at J.M. Edgerton and Sons, which later became Boyer Motor and Equipment Co.
He and Ruth also established Second Fling.

He was a member of Kiwanis and Rotary.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Rod and Gun Club, and was a champion crow caller.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church Saturday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m.
Visitation will follow the service in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Home Health Hospice Care (3HC).
A special thank you to Danita Williams, Sharon Pearce, Pam Berry, Karen Lotz, Nancy Penny and Denise Newton, who provided care and companionship, and will be forever part of our extended family.
