Tom Meyer
March 19, 2025
My name is Tom Meyer and I have known Bruce for 37 years. He has been a friend for 36 years as it took a full year to get used to him. We met during the vigorous application process for Masterbuilt Homes. I had no carpentry experience and Bruce was looking for someone with a pulse. I met the requirement and after we exchanged names he told me to get to work. I learned a ton over the next 7 years including that hard work doesn´t always result in a paycheck. I learned that most builders specialize and that Bruce´s specialty was everything. His style of teaching was to give a few tips, a short explanation, maybe a brief demonstration, and then hand you a tool. A couple reassuring words such as, "don´t mess it up" or
"don´t cut your fingers off. " Inevitably, there would be a mistake and then the experience of Bruce´s reaction. He seemed to find an odd pleasure in your screw-ups and enjoyed reminding you about it for the remainder of the day/week/month. I would like to think it was his own unique teaching technique, but I got to know him well enough over the years to know that he didn´t mind people with faults and if you didn´t think you had any, he was happy to point them out. A compliment for a job well done was, "it took you long enough."
He wasn´t impressed with anyone but would do anything for someone in need. I will miss his honesty, some of his opinions, and mostly his friendship. Rest in peace my friend.

We met Bruce during a remodel a few months ago in our basement and immediately realized he was not just a plumber, carpenter or Engineer but an all around great person! He did wayy more than we asked of him and he even took over most of the job to speed things up from our contractor, knowing they were behind schedule! He didn´t even charge for his extra work to make it done right on his own time after working somewhere earlier the same day! He and my wife and son chatted about life and he and I talked 60s and 70s muscle cars especially Mopars! He had some rare amd cool cars that he said he drove and didn´t baby them as they were made to romp! We talked about my restaurant and all his kids growing up in that life too! My family and I will miss his laugh and words of wisdom he brought to us each time we saw him. Rest in Peace my friend
