Philip Edelstein Obituary

Philip Edelstein
Philip Edelstein, of Peabody, MA (formally of Danbury CT) passed away on July 8, 2021. After several months of declining health, he died peacefully at the age of 97. He was born on February 23, 1924 in Queens, NY, the son of Beatrice (Klein) and Joel Edelstein.
After graduating from Admiral Farragut Academy, he attended University of Pennsylvania, before serving in the United States Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific, in World War II.
In 1970, he purchased Danbury Plumbing Supply, which he later sold, after 25 years of unparalleled growth. He was active in the NW CT Girl Scout Council, Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Literacy Volunteers of America, SCORE & a volunteer at Danbury Hospital for several years.
Phil is survived by his children, Jill & Jim Previs and Cathy & Carl Johnson, who idolized and loved him beyond words. Also by his beloved grandchildren Todd Badillo, Garret Johnson and Greg Johnson; Great Grandchildren Hannah & Benjamin Badillo and Isabella Johnson. He was pre-deceased by his grandson, Ernie Badillo.
In retirement, Phil remained busy with his stamp collecting, world traveling, bird feeding, his morning coffee group and his nickel weekly poker game.
Friends may send a contribution to Danbury Hospital in his memory.

Phil was a giant among men. As a teenager I worked for Phil at DPS and later went to work for myself. I remember Mr Edelstein as a kinder, gentler man who had a caring side as was willing to impart business advice to a young guy looking to break into business.
