Stephen Tonra Obituary
Stephen Joseph Tonra, Jr., age 78, of Redding, CT, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Judith N. (Partington) Tonra.
He was born in Brookline, MA, March 22, 1936, son of the late Stephen J. Tonra, Sr. and Matilda (Stephenson) Tonra. Stephen served in the Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict, was Policeman for 5 years in Brookline, MA and then graduated top of his class at the Massachusetts State Police Academy. He was then hired by TWA as a Pilot, and retired as a 747 Captain after 30 years of service.
In addition to his wife of 30 years, he is survived by 3 sons: Stephen C. Tonra and his wife Stephanie of Atlanta, GA, Mark Tonra and his wife Suzy of Santa Fe, NM, Christopher Tonra and his wife Jolene of Tampa, FL; 6 Grandchildren: Stephen, Kaitlyn, Logan, Colin, James & Sarah; a niece: Adrienne McCosh of Plymouth, MA as well as Great Nieces: Caitlin & Erin.
