Julia Marie (Cruz) Pyszka, 69, of Peru, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the JPO Retirement Home in Dalzell.
Funeral services for Julia will begin at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 15 at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley. The Rev. Gregory Jarzombek, O.S.B., will officiate. Private burial services for the immediate family will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Spring Valley. A public visitation for Julia will be held Friday, at the funeral home, from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services.
Julia was born on October 16, 1952 in Spring Valley to Anthony and Inez (Gusman) Cruz. She married Richard Pyszka on October 24, 1970 at St. Mary Catholic Church in DePue. Richard preceded her in death on January 4, 2022.
Julia was a graduate of DePue High School and she retired from Eakas Corporation, where she worked in quality control. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish. Her family will remember her love of bowling, fishing, gambling, and her trips to Las Vegas. She became the team "grandma" of every sports team that her grandchildren participated in and she attended all of their games. Most of all, she deeply loved all of her family.
Julia is survived by her two sons, Rick (Jen) Pyszka and Jason (Sarah) Pyszka, both of Peru; her two daughters, Carrie (Justin) Mrowicki and Jennifer (Neil) Quartucci, both of Spring Valley; her nine grandchildren, Peyton, Jaycee, Nathaniel, Mackenzie, Olivia, Payge, Elliot, Ian and Alexandria; her father, Tony (Joyce) Cruz of Spring Valley; her mother, Inez (Frank) Montez of DePue; her siblings, David (Julie) Montez of Spring Valley, Patti (Roger) Harrison of DePue, Lori LaBonte of Green Bay, WI, Bob (Rita) Koyak of Salinas, CA, Mike (Margie) Koyak of Fishers, IN, Joan (Franco) Pacifico of Wilmington, NC, Kaye (Tim) Wahl of Lakeville, MN, Ron Cruz of DePue, and Jim Cruz of Princeton; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Albert and Beryl Pyszka; her nephew, Tyler Harrison; and her brother-in-law, Lenard LaBonte.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Pallbearers will be Rick, Jason, and Peyton Pyszka, Justin and Nathaniel Mrowicki, and Neil, Elliot, and Ian Quartucci. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jaycee and Payge Pyszka, Mackenzie Mrowicki, Olivia Quartucci, and Alexandria Gillette.
