Phoebe Ramsey Huffer, 87, of Steele's Tavern, Virginia, passed away on December 3, 2022, at the Shenandoah House. She was born in Augusta County near Churchville, on October 18, 1935. The daughter of the late Robert J. and Ruby Hevener Ramsey, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was married for 61 years to the late John L. Huffer. Phoebe was a tax consultant for many years and also a volunteer at Augusta Health.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Lawhorne and her husband, Pete, of Stuarts Draft; sons, Randy and his wife, Ann, of Richmond, and Tracy of Steele's Tavern; seven grandchildren, Rickie Thornton (Callee), Cody Thornton, Brittany Williams (Brandon), Kelsey Gregory (Danny), Lindsey Huffer, Hannah Zudilin (Archie), and Chase Huffer; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will greet visitors on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at McDow funeral home at 12:45 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Augusta Memorial Park at 2 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at Augusta Health and Shenandoah House for their loving care of Phoebe and her family during her brief illness. Memorials may be made to the Augusta Regional SPCA.
