LINKE, AUDREY LUCILLE CABLE Audrey Lucille Cable Linke, 91, of Hamden passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21,2014 at her home . Beloved wife of the late Raymond G. Linke. Loving mother of Sharyn Farr of Rotonda West, FL, Robin DeLucia and husband John of Hamden, Gary Linke and wife Kerry Worsencroft of Hamden and Dolores Don and husband Robert of Milford. . Cherished grandmother of Alicia Whitney, Jonathan Trotta, Meredith Trotta, Lisabeth Chapelle, Daniel DeLucia, Courtney Dziagwa, Megan Clifford, Melanie Worsencroft-Marshall, Robert J. Don, Christopher Don and Kimberly Don. Also survived by twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother E. Robert Cable and two sisters, Jeannette Randel and Alice Birdsey. Born May 20,1923 in Oxford, CT a daughter of the late Nelson and Cora Bonnett Cable, she was a graduate of Seymour High School. Audrey was an avid and talented writer of short stories, poetry and articles and had been published in several magazines including the Ladies Home Journal, Readers Digest and The Good Old Days. She also wrote a book which was published entitled “ World War II Remembered”. She taught creative writing for the Hamden Adult Education Program and was the recipient of the Hamden Notable Award from the Town of Hamden several years ago. She was a very creative crafts person , loved to write letters , dance, and was well known for her dry Yankee humor. Audrey was a longtime active member of the Dunbar United Church of Christ in Hamden where she did much volunteer work, was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and served on the Vestry. She will be remembered as always being there for people when they needed her and as the kind of woman who put service to others before herself. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan 3rd, 2015 at 3:00pm in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden. Visitation will be after the service on Saturday from 4 - 6pm. www.siskbrothers.com
