Barbara McWeeney Obituary

McWeeney, Barbara Ann DeMaio
Barbara Ann DeMaio McWeeney, 68 of Northford died peacefully Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of forty seven years to James D. McWeeney. Barbara was born in New Haven on March 14, 1950, daughter of the late Salvatore and Eleanor Perrotti DeMaio, and had resided in Northford for the past twenty nine years. She was a school paraprofessional in both the North Branford and North Haven Public Schools for twelve years, retiring in 2012. Barbara was devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren, always putting others above herself. Her infectious smile, and warm welcoming personality made everyone feel comfortable and accepted. She loved life, and always found humor in even the most difficult situations. She will truly be missed by many. Knowing she's at peace after her courageous battle with ALS will begin to help our healing process. We send a special thank you to Monica Torres and Jessica Mascola from Masonicare along with the entire hospice staff for their dedication and compassion for Barbara during what was a very difficult time in her life. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by two daughters, Kelly Ann (Jay) DeChello of Cheshire and Jennifer McWenney of Northford, one sister, Sally Ann (Frank) Dwyer of Durham, one brother, Alfred (Betsy) DeMaio of Orange, and four grandchildren, Anthony and Jadyn DeChello, and Aidan and Nathan Cappetta. Barbara's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in Barbara's name may be sent to the ALS Foundation CT Chapter, 4 Oxford Rd., Milford, CT 06460, or online at www.alsact.org/donate www.washingtonmemorialfh.com

For my precious sister...without you, life has lost all meaning. The brightest light has gone out in all of our lives. My heart is beyond broken without you. Fly with the angels, sweet girl. May God hold you close. You have my heart for all eternity. Until we meet again. I adore you and miss you with every breath I take.
