When my wife and I married, in 1980, in Los Angeles, when the band took a break, my family and I got up on stage and sang "In the Still of the Night". This was the first time I was allowed to sing lead on a song!

One of the best days of my life was the day I got to meet Mr. Parris at the coffee shop where I was working at the time. Knowing my love of great music, my coworker asked if I knew who he was. The singer of my favorite song of all time was standing at my cash register. I could have fainted. Instead, I gained my composure and got to spend a few minutes talking to a musical legend and his beautiful wife. I'll never forget that day. To his family, my prayers are with you. His iconic music and story will live forever.

When I was a young man... my band had the good fortune of playing along with Fred Parris and the 5 Satins. We provided the music and fred and the 5 Satins did their show. Loved them then and now. So sorry to hear of his passing for I will remember them until the day I die. God Bless
