Jeffrey Haney Obituary
Oxford—Jeffrey J. Haney 62 of Oxford entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at home. Mr. Haney was born on Feb. 4, 1957 in New Haven son of the late Grover and Regina (Anastasio) Haney. He was the proud owner of Jeff Haney and Son Building Jeff held his 5th degree as a Karate Master with World Tang Soo Do Association and also obtained his pilot license. In 2012 he was elected second selectman for the town of Oxford and held that position until his passing, he also was the animal control officer in town. Survivors are his son Jeffrey J. Haney Jr. of Oxford sisters twin sister Jacqueline Theriault of Nevada, Joanne Buffington of N. Carolina Lois Tallberg of Beacon Falls, Davida Stockman of N. Carolina Brother Robert Haney of Naugatuck many nieces nephews, family members former wife Heather Weisz Hancy and partner Jane Davidson. His Funeral will be leaving on Friday from the Bennett Funeral Home 91 N. Cliff St. Ansonia at 9:00 a.m. to the Cornerstone Church in Oxford for his Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Jeffrey J. Haney Fund that will be cared for by the Valley Community Foundation in care of the Funeral Home.

Master Haney was what many of us strive to be. Excellent martial artist, could be in charge, but was patient and nice. He was a friend and a mentor. He was civic minded, and helped others his whole life. He will be missed by many.

There were so many people at both the wake and church services as would be expected for Master Haney. I'm sure he was watching down on us in disbelief, humility, honor, and dignity. As we know he did not like attention on just him but I think we all would agree that he so deserved it not just for what he did for the WTSDA but his friends, town, his job, and most of all his family. Master Haney will be deeply missed by all and thank goodness we all have so many pictures and stories to share and keep in our hearts. Master Haney's son Jeffrey and the rest of his family will always be a part of our Tang Soo Do family and we will always be here for them. Rest in Peace Sir - fly and enjoy all the Blackies Hot Dogs you want now!!

I worked with Jeff on quite a few jobs and he was a wonderful person. I would talk with him about all the things he was into with Karate, the town he loved and other stuff. He was a calm person no matter what was happening. He lived a full life and a beautiful life. I am sorry for your loss, he is gone too soon and will be missed greatly.

This is only 1 example of how thoughtful, & unselfish Master Haney acted.....20 years ago, he flew his plane to Massachusetts to present a Trophy to a person because it wasn't ready on the day she won it. This is a flight we will not forget, and often talked about, as it was on the way back to CT. that he was re routed and there was lots of "chatter" on the flight radio. It was the night John Kennedy Jr's plane went down on the way to Martha's Vineyard. A peaceful flight home this time my friend...

I had the honor of training with Master Jeff Haney for several years at our annual Masters Clinic in Alabama. I knew him as a very gentle and strong man, always so courteous and nice. We will miss him very much. Rest in peace, sir.
