Mark W. Hartney
June 16, 2025
St. Raphael Hospital, New Haven, CT
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark W. Hartney, age 67, on June 16, 2025, at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, CT, where he had been a long-time resident.
Mark's life was defined by his love for the simple joys and the people who mattered most to him. He cherished the peaceful moments spent swimming in Long Island Sound, the freedom of bike rides, and the quiet serenity found in reading or exploring Connecticut's beautiful state parks. Above all, Mark was a devoted family man who treasured the time spent with his loved ones. His family meant the world to him, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mark is survived by his brother, Robert (Tom) Hartney; his sisters, Annette Hartney and Theresa (Terri) Duro, and her husband Tony Duro; his niece, Angela Duro, and her fiancée John Vendola; and his nephews, Anthony and Timothy Duro. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Robert Hartney Sr. and Martha Hartney. While a private service will be held, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

May Mark rest in paradise. I enjoyed our talks whenever we'd eat a sub at the Morris House or when I'd give him a ride. He was a good soul.

I remember Mark from Nathan Hale and often gave him a ride home from the Four Corners bus stop. His love for the neighborhood and interest in what happened there will always be remembered. May he rest in peace.
