NORMA COLWELL Obituary

COLWELL, NORMA A. Norma A. Colwell, 85, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on Sunday, July 6, 2014. She is now in heaven with her beloved partner, Thomas O. Colwell, Sr. who predeceased her. Norma was born June 30, 1929 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, to Virginia and Edwin Welton. She was the first of three children. After graduating high school, she got a job as a secretary at the New Haven Railroad where she met her future husband who was a mechanic there. A year later they got engaged + married eventually settling in Clinton, CT and raising their four children there. She enjoyed watching the Yankees with our dad, watching game shows and the news, and reading mystery novels. She is survived by her children: Thomas Jr. and Alicia Colwell (Clinton), Robert Colwell (Clinton), Susan Colwell and Cameron Bourn (Old Saybrook), Maureen Colwell (Shelton). Grandchild Thomas Colwell III and Melissa Catalano(Clinton). Great grandchild Justin Colwell (Clinton). She was predeceased by her father Edwin Welton, her mother Virginia Welton and her sister Jean Welton. Norma leaves behind her brother David Welton and his family (Shelton) and many nieces and nephews and her step grandchildren: Kyle (Lindsey) Peatfield (Watertown, NY), Chelsea Bourn (Wethersfield, CT), Ryan Roberts(Alisa) (Clinton). Step-great-grandchild Riley Peatfield (Watertown,NY) Please visit the Swan Funeral Home, Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 80E Main St. Clinton from 6 to 8. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11am the Swan Funeral Home in Clinton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Madison House, 34 Wildwood Ave, Madison, CT 06443. I'm so sorry to hear of Norma's passing, I enjoyed the pleasure of working with her at the Red Cross for many years. My condolences to her beloved family, she spoke of each of you often.
