Peter Gagliardi, 57, of East Haven, CT, passed away at home on November 12, 2021. Peter is survived by his father, Vincent Gagliardi of New Haven, his siblings Maria Moran (Aidan) of Clinton; Paul Gagliardi of New Haven; Theresa Allgaier (William) of Westbrook; and Christopher Gagliardi (Christina) of Clinton, sister-in-law Mary Gagliardi of Oakland, CA and his companion Brauna Gorin of New Haven. He was predeceased by his mother Susan Gagliardi and his brother Mark Gagliardi. He was a devoted uncle to Jessica and Andy; Francesca and Sam; Paul, John and Matthew; Jacob and Ryan; and Kyle and Luke. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and innumerable friends who meant the world to him.
Peter was born in New Haven, CT and attended St. Bernadette's Elementary School. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven and later received his bachelor's degree in forestry and environmental science from Unity College in Maine, where he was Captain of the Woodsman Team.
For 30 years, Peter was a Greenskeeper at the Yale Golf Course, where he served as union steward as well.
He became an Eagle Scout of Troop 25, which further developed his lifelong love of the outdoors and his devotion to his faith and to service. He was a peer counselor at ND, as well as a volunteer at St Vincent de Paul Church and at the East Haven Food Pantry.
His other interests included fishing, hunting, sports and music. He was a season ticket holder to Yale men's hockey. He was patriotic, a history buff, a Trivial Pursuit whiz, and a dog lover.
But most of all, Peter was kind, caring, appreciative, helpful, generous, and loyal. Peter was loved immensely by everyone who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven. Interment will be private.
