Salvatore DePrimo Obituary

Salvatore DePrimo, Jr.
Salvatore DePrimo Jr, age 90, of St. Petersburg, FL, and formerly of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in Largo, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 26, 1934, in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Annunziata "Nancy" (Amento) DePrimo. Salvatore was a devoted man of God whose faith and love touched everyone he knew. He was a proud veteran, having served his country with honor, and lived a life full of integrity, kindness, and service to others. His deep faith in the Lord was a cornerstone of his life. A longtime member of West Woods Bible Chapel in Hamden, CT, and later Grace Gospel Chapel in St. Petersburg, FL. Salvatore's unwavering devotion to God was evident to all who encountered him. He drew strength and comfort from his favorite Bible verse, John 5:24, which he held close to his heart. Salvatore was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Blake) DePrimo, who passed away in 1996, and his second wife, Ann Charboneau, who passed in 2022. His family was his greatest joy, and he took pride in being a part of their lives. He is survived by his sons, Michael DePrimo of West Haven, CT, and Salvatore S. DePrimo of Rocky Hill, CT; his daughter, Kimberly (DePrimo) Holstrom and her husband Gordon of Sturbridge, MA; his grandsons, Robert Moehring and Joseph DePrimo; his granddaughters, Jaime Moehring and Danielle (Moehring) Elkins and her husband Craig, along with several nieces and nephews. Salvatore was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kristiana Marie DePrimo of Texas, in 2023, and his siblings, Giro DePrimo (Anne) of Texas in 2021, and Mary (DePrimo) Mirabella (Frank) of Florida in 2022. Before retiring in 1999, Salvatore had a long career at Connecticut Hard Rubber Company in New Haven. His colleagues became lifelong cherished friends, and the bonds they shared were a testament to the kind and personable man he was. After retirement, he enjoyed splitting his time between St. Petersburg, FL, and Hamden, CT, cherishing moments spent with his family and friends. Salvatore's legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a man of great character whose presence will be deeply missed. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave. North Haven. Friends are asked to go directly to church. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery where Salvatore will be laid to rest with military honors. May he rest in peace. In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
