So sorry about the loss of your beloved husband and father, Doug. I am so glad that he married my best friend, Marie. What a wonderful couple. Doug was not part of our FHS Class of 1967 but at our reunions he mingled as though he had been. You should take such pride in his service to our country and as a terrific teacher. May you find comfort in your memories of him.

To the family and close friends of Doug; our family passes on the love of our Savour Jesus Christ. I was a student and coworker of Doug's. I studied under Doug between 1977 and 1980. And worked with him in the adult night school program later. Doug laid the foundation for my career in the auto trade, I accredit him and my Lord for my successes in training and award winning accomplishments. I pray now for you the family for comfort from our Lord. Doug now is at peace and we need to know he is always with us through our memories and in spirit.
I too grew up in the Beemerville Church family and have faith that church has the caring and heart of Jesus and will be there for you all. I may be hundreds of miles away but I feel I am with you through the Holy Spirit and wish to comfort you in every way.

I am saddened to hear that Mr.Card has passed on. I recently visited his old shop at the school and i could still hear his voice and remember how funny he was! He inspired me to enlist in the Air Force, and to achieve other great things in my life. He was a great role model and teacher. I utilize bits of him that he shared with me still, almost daily and I think of him just as much. He was an exceptional guy and will be missed.

Maria and family

Doug and I have been friends for over 60 years and his passing saddens me greatly. Grew up as neighbors and spent all of elementary school and part of high school in the same home room. We were just a couple of "farm boys" in the big city of Sussex. After high school we kinda lost touch but it seemed our lives followed a similar path. First the Air Force then some higher education, not sure our teachers would have picked either of us to go on to more schooling but ya just never know what a couple of farm boys can accomplish once we got away from the farm. Friends had told me how Doug had done and it didn't surprise me a bit. He always made our class reunions better. Talking to everyone in sight as he flashed that smile of his. Oh how he will be missed by us all. He was a good man who became even better when he met and married Marie. Marie you to are something special and I have you in my prayers. Just like Doug, you will always be a member of our class. I'm sending you and all the family my love and prayers.
