Paul Gerke Obituary
St. Bernard - GERKE, Paul Edward. Beloved husband of the late Rose Marie "Tootie" (nee Sturm) for 60 years. Father of Cathy (Mark) Goddard, John (Colleen) Gerke, Sue (Matt) Westrich, Peggy (Rob) Combs and Rob (Janine) Gerke. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Brother of the late Charles, James, Roger Gerke and Mary Herren. Paul was a devoted husband and father and an active member of St. Clement Church. He was a member of IBEW 212 for over 60 years. Paul passed away peacefully Saturday morning. The family takes comfort in the faith that he passed down to them, and they trust that he is united with God and reunited with his beloved wife Rose. Paul's funeral Mass will be at St. Clement on Friday at 11am. Since a number of our family members work in the medical profession, the mass will be for family members only. We invite anyone who would like to join us to participate virtually by way of live stream. The livestream can be found on the parish Facebook page: facebook.com/stclementcincinnati In lieu of flowers, memorials may be St. Clement Church or to Bridgeway Pointe Nursing Home. My condolences to the family. I am deeply saddened however, it was truly a pleasure taking care of Mr. Gerke at Bridgeway. He was one of the the funniest and sweetest old men I know. I will remember the moments of laughter and dancing with him in the middle of the night. My adoptive Bridgeway Pointe grandpa will be truly missed. Blessings and comfort to you all.

Paul was one of the sweetest, funniest people I have ever cared for. I always called him “Grandpa.” He always had a smile on his face, & a hug to give. I have so many funny memories with him that I will cherish for a lifetime. All of us here at Bridgeway Pointe will miss him very much!

Gerk, we played in the same backfield for Father Valens at
St. Bonnies. In CYO baseball we won the trophy at Crosley Field for St. Bonnies. We continued our Franciscan education at Roger Bacon. And tomorrow we’ll pray for your immortal soul at the First Friday Mass at Roger Bacon.
